Reggae Sumfest, a long-standing tradition in Jamaican culture, has been captivating audiences for over 25 years. This annual music event provides a platform for both local and international dancehall and reggae artists to showcase their talents to a diverse range of spectators. Throughout its history, Reggae Sumfest has showcased some of the most prominent figures in the dancehall and reggae music scene, such as Beenie Man, Damian Marley, Shaggy, Sean Paul, Lady Saw, Jah Cure, Shabba Ranks, Ziggy Marley & the Melody Makers, Beres Hammond, Barrington Levy, Tarrus Riley, Protoje, I-Octane, and Konshens, among others.
Previously, Reggae Sumfest also welcomed renowned names from the hip-hop and R&B genres, including Destiny’s Child, Jay Z, Nikki Minaj, Ne-Yo, Snoop Dogg, and many more, until 2016.
However, in 2016, the annual Reggae Sumfest in Jamaica underwent a significant transformation, placing a renewed emphasis on celebrating local talent and entertainers. Nevertheless, recent indications suggest that the organizers Downsound Entertainment are now preparing to reintroduce international artists to the festival.
Exciting news was shared with fans through an official announcement on Reggae Sumfest’s Instagram page, revealing that the internationally acclaimed superstar, Kenneth Brian Edmonds, widely known as Babyface, will be making a grand appearance in Jamaica. Babyface is scheduled to perform on Festival Night Two, which is set to take place on July 20, 2024, and is aptly named the International Night.
